Learn how the creation of a carbon-credit marketplace, mandated by the American Clean Energy and Security Act now under consideration by Congress, will make the cost of carbon emissions a primary factor in the site selection, expansion, relocation and facilities management decision-making process.
William Sloan, an attorney in the global law firm Morrison & Foerster’s Cleantech Group will explain what business location decision-makers,economic development professionals and facilities managers need to know about carbon credits and other impending regulations that will dramatically alter the business and industrial landscape in the United States.
Mr. Sloan, formerly with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice, is a member of the Energy Bar Association’s Emission Trading Commission, the Climate Change Advisory Committee for the California Manufacturers and Technical Association, and the Environment, Energy and Resources Section of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Sloan has represented domestic and international clients on matters involving natural resource and emission management, regulation, and litigation, with a particular focus on climate change, energy and water resources. He has advised clients on carbon offset generation projects and emission reduction purchase agreements, both under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol and in the voluntary offset marketplace. He is a frequent speaker and author on climate change and carbon markets.
