Governor Paterson announces Biotech Center

Governor David A. Paterson today announced a redevelopment plan for the Kennedy Square Apartment Complex in downtown Syracuse to jumpstart significant private sector development in the area and create an economic engine for the region. The plan includes the long-anticipated New York State Biotechnology Research Center as well as state of the art medical research, office and classroom space for SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Bitzers announces 300 Manufacturing Jobs to Syracuse

Governor Eliot Spitzer today announced that BITZER Scroll, a large independent manufacturer of air conditioning and refrigeration compressors, will create close to 300 high-end engineering and manufacturing jobs at a former General Motors (GM) facility just outside Syracuse in the Town of Salina.

G. A. Braun announces expansion at Hancock AirPark

Syracuse, NY – At a press conference held today at Hancock Airpark Daniel Gundersen, chairman of Upstate Empire State Development Corp. announced that G.A. Braun would relocate their Syracuse headquarters to Hancock Airpark with a completion date anticipated in 2008. Gundersen was joined by James B. Werner, president of G.A. Braun and local dignitaries to make the announcement that 80 jobs would be retained and another 40 jobs would be pledged over the next three years.

JP Morgan Chase and Syracuse University announce Financial Services Partnership

Building on its longstanding commitment to New York State, JPMorgan Chase today announced that it will invest $30 million over 10 years in an innovative university-industry partnership with Syracuse University to create a financial service technology and infrastructure curriculum and training program that will benefit students throughout the region. The partnership also includes plans for a new corporate technology center on the Syracuse University campus as well as scholarships and internships for students. This program will provide a training ground for new and diverse talent in financial services technology and infrastructure and create hundreds of new jobs in Syracuse and upstate New York.
