The Governor's Opportunity Fund is available to the governor to secure a relocation/expansion project for Virginia. Grants are awarded to localities on a local matching basis with the expectation that the grant will result in an expansion project. Monies may be used for such things as public and private utility extension or capacity development on and off site; road, rail, or other transportation access costs beyond the funding capability of existing programs; site acquisition; grading, drainage, paving, and any other activity required to prepare a site for construction; construction or build-out of publicly owned buildings; grants or loans to an Industrial Development Authority, Housing and Redevelopment Authority, or other political subdivision, or training.
The Workforce Services Program offers customized recruiting and training assistance to companies that are creating new jobs or experiencing technological change. The program is designed to reduce the human resource development cost of new and expanding companies.
The Virginia Investment Partnership Grant Fund is available to existing Virginia manufacturers, R&D services supporting manufacturing, and large basic employers. The program is targeted to companies that have operated in Virginia for at least five years, and that are proposing expansion projects that meet certain criteria.
